It's not a comeback unless you're Britney Spears

If you missed last week's show, we are happy for you. Most of it, with the exception of JJ's lovely sports report, was a mess. Partly because I screwed up everything tech0related and partly because my entertainment report was completely unprepared.

BUT... we're back this week on Monday, Nov. 30th. (I will redeem myself, I promise.) This show will be great because we are both feeling wonderfully rejuvenated after a week of no work and no school. (We both work on campus, so we got the whole week off. Yay!)

Stay tuned this week for our REAL comeback show.

So, a guy walks into a cybersex orgy...

Earlier this evening, Christa and I discussed the not-as-recent-as-previously-thought internet shenanigans of writer/director/Bear Jew Eli Roth. Basically, the story goes: Eli Roth was Twittering, somebody made a joke about blueberries, and things got a little freaky from there. I won't go into the details, I'll let you seek those on your own, but I will say this: I'm disappointed I didn't find Bear Crazy Sex Jew on Twitter until after this thing went down. I love you Eli.

To see commentary, Eli's statement, and a jizz tissue, click here.

Oh, but don't bother checking his official Twitter for dirty tweets (dweets?), they've long since been deleted. Er, at least that's what I've been told.

Anyway, on to the bad news.

On tonight's show, I expressed my unbridled giddy-ness about the NBA season officially kicking off Tuesday night. The marquee matchup takes place at 7:30pm Pacific time, when the NBA champion lakers* begin their title defense against my revamped Los Angeles Clippers squad. Folks, I have some sad news. Not just for Clippers fans, but for fans of basketball in general and all citizens of the earth.

The number one pick in this year's NBA draft, former college player of the year at Oklahoma, and current Clippers forward Blake "Muthafuckin" Griffin suffered a stress fracture to his left patella and will miss the next month and a half of the season.

The season starts tomorrow. This was diagnosed tonight. Awh, Lawd.

Was Blake Griffin doomed the moment David Stern called his name and put a Clippers cap on his head at the NBA Draft this June? Probably. Is this God's way of telling me that I was a terrible person in a past life and He has made me into a Clippers fan as a way to torture me for a lifetime? I'm beginning to think so.

I'm devastated, so I think I'm gonna go cry now. And study for a midterm. But mostly cry...and then think of Eli Roth's blueberries, and then cheer up a bit. You understand.

Two Doses of Badass-ness

On Monday, I spoke briefly about the preseason matchup between the Clippers and the Lakers. I know for a lot of folks, preseason basketball isn't the most interesting thing, but that's why you have me! I'll let you know if you missed anything, and chances are, you did. Clippers rookie and number 1 draft pick Blake Griffin made a poster out of Lakers center DJ Mbenga, and far be it from me to deny anybody the pleasure of that sight. All I'm saying is...damn. DJ Mbenga's face, meet Blake Griffin's balls. Or, as sports reporter Michael Eaves more delicately put it: "If dunking on an NBA player were a felony, Blake Griffin would get a life sentence for what he did to DJ Mbenga!" Keep those words in mind, and enjoy.

And also:

I just thought you all would enjoy that. I sure have.

Show #4!!!

Hey Titans!
Check out that fancy graph... that's all of you who tuned into 2 Girls 1 Mic tonight! We had 20 listeners! Wow!! We're movin' on up, and it's all thanks to YOU! Tonight's show was a lot of fun. Listen here :)

We apologize for the glitch in the podcast during the sports report, someone used the computer we were recording on in the middle of our show. :(

Also, if you haven't heard Michael Jackson's newly released single "This Is It," check it out below. It's a very moving song...

Pretty amazing. RIP MJ!

As mentioned in the entertainment report, Miley Cyrus has deleted her Twitter. As if that didn't give her enough publicity, she had to make a rap about it too.

It hurts my ears...

Lastly, our song of the week was Paper Poison by our very own Titan, Kacie Yoshida. She's so talented! Check out her music here.

Thanks for listening, everyone! We really appreciate your support.
Until next time,
CK

Big things are coming

Today was our third show and we had a lot of fun. We are figuring out how to use the board correctly and listeners have told us that the show has been running smoother. Listeners, we just want to thank you for tuning in during our "learning process." We just want you to know that we have intentions to make this show really great. We have some awesome guests coming your way later in the semester and we are gathering a loyal following. Today, we had 18 listeners! Awesome! Thanks for the support.

We could really use your feedback. If you have listened to our show, email us at 2girls1micradio@gmail.com or comment this very blog post. Let us know what is good and bad about our show and let us know how you think we can do to improve it.

Apparently, we made a big mistake tonight with the phones by not pressing the off button on the board. So, if you tried to call in but failed, we are sorry. :( We will know better next time!

In case you missed it, here is Jon Gosselin's interview with Larry King on October 1st.

We couldn't record tonight's show, but week 2's show is recorded. We just need to figure out how to get it online. If you have any suggestions, let us know! Thanks :)

Also, in case you missed it, here are our songs of the week so far:

Week 1: Miley Cyrus - Party in the USA
Week 2: Saint Motel - Butch
Week 3: Modest Mouse - Never Ending Math Equation

Thanks for listening,
2 Girls

Nobody's Perfect, Even When You're Perfect

So, how 'bout that Beyoncè video Christa posted?! Gah, it took all the man in me to hold back the tears. A good find by Christa!

Anyway, tonight was our first show, and I had a lot of fun. The DJ before us, Josh, talked about pre-show jitters... I didn't really have any, though. I guess it's the mystery of the microphone. You talk into it, unsure whether or not anyone is really listening. But the response has been great! Many thanks to our listeners, and especially our callers, Matt and Chad! (Matt, sorry about the tech problems- we got you next time though, man!)

However, aside from some small technical issues, there was another problem with tonight's show. An ugly, huge, blaring one. The UCLA Bruins, who are perfect on the season, went unmentioned in my sports recap! For this, I apologize. I got so excited about USC being upset by Washington, I just left the Bruins out. I did, my bad. UCLA didn't deserve that-- for goodness sake-- I might label myself a UCLA football fan if I, in fact, watched UCLA football. Don't get me wrong, I love the college game, I just tend to lend my attention to the more marquee games of the weekend (not that two unranked teams playing each other isn't marquee). I didn't say it then, so I'll say it now: UCLA beat Kansas State 23-9 at the Rose Bowl this weekend, making them undefeated on the season.

And thanks to caller Chad for calling me out on that one. Won't happen again, stranger!

Remember to e-mail any comments or plugs to 2girls1micradio@gmail.com, we'd love to hear from you!

Thanks again to everyone for tuning in, I can't wait for next week!

-JJ

Thank you!

Big thanks to our listeners tonight! Hopefully we didn't bore you too much. ;-) We had some technical issues, but we had a LOT of fun! Thanks to the 2 callers we had as well! We're excited to improve our show next week to bring you maximum entertainment.

What did you think? Send us an email at 2girls1micradio@gmail.com! We'll also be taking some "Shameless Plugs and Promotions," so if you have a club/event/product you'd like us to promote, shoot us an email and it might be featured on our show!

What about our hot topic of the night? Do the females at CSUF get the short end of the straw? Are there any decent and good looking guys out there? If you think so, where can we find them?!

Here is the video I referred to in the show... Beyonce singing "Halo" to a very special little girl, Chelsea:

We want to be Beyonce when we grow up!

Also, here is a clip of Lady Gaga's VMA performance. WOW! Amazingg. Skip ahead to 3:20 for the best part!

JJ will be posting some sports updates for you later this evening, so stay tuned!

Thanks for listening.

Welcome to 2 Girls 1 Mic!

Greetings, listeners! Thanks for tuning in. Christa here.

Here we will be posting recaps of our shows, pictures, links, and more.

If you haven't heard of us yet, we are 2 Girls 1 Mic, a new radio show coming to Titan Radio beginning September 21st at 6:30PM PST. Our show can be heard across the world on http://www.titanradio.org.

Many folks have asked us, "Christa and JJ, what is your show going to be about?" To answer that question, I'd have to explain how we came up with the idea for our show.

A couple months ago, JJ and I were hanging out at It's A Grind in Irvine. We were waiting for a brief appearance by one of our favorite bands, The Jakes, when I was trying to convince JJ to do her own radio show.

She's a broadcast journalism major, funny as heck (as you will find out in our show), and has an opinion on just about anything. That's a recipe for a pretty interesting radio DJ if you ask me. Somehow this conversation led to me being in the show too, partly because I seem to have lots of opinions as well, and partly because no girl really wants to do a radio show by herself, right?

In case you haven't met JJ before, she knows more about sports than any female you will ever know. She LOVES the Clippers, Dodgers, football- the list goes on- and she could talk about any of these topics for hours on end.

Me on the other hand, well, I just enjoy a good CSUF basketball game every once in a while. I'm more of a media junkie. I like CNN, Perez Hilton, morning news with my breakfast, and the latest Hollywood gossip.

There are a couple of things we have in common.

We both share in common the desire to tell a story and commentate on EVERYTHING. We give our opinion to you straight, unscripted, and only slightly censored.

And we figured, heck, our conversations are interesting enough. Why not broadcast them on a college radio station? And trust me, 99% of the time, our conversations are pretty damn funny.

So, to answer your question, our show will be about lots of things. We will be discussing sports, entertainment, current events, college & OC life, and more!

Our mission? We want you, the average college student, to relate to the topics discussed to our show. We want to make you laugh, cry, and smile.

We also want you to call in to our show so we can talk to you :]

We are even willing to plug your product/show/party/club/etc., if it's interesting enough.
Just shoot us an email at 2girls1micradio@gmail.com.

So don't forget to tune in tomorrow night at 6:30 PM on titanradio.org for 2 Girls 1 Mic.

That is all. Thanks for listening.

-CK
